My name is Tami Gouveia, and I am running for the 14th Middlesex State Representative seat because I believe that we can build a more just, sustainable future for our children.
As a progressive Democrat, I have dedicated my career to serving as an advocate for social change and tackling many of our communities’ most pressing issues. I’ve spent the past fifteen years working as a public health leader, committed to creating a healthier and more just Massachusetts. I’ve negotiated with policy makers to protect our youth from the devastation of addiction, secured funding to address the opioid crisis, and conducted environmental health policy research to support the passage of bills at the state level. These opportunities have allowed me to work strategically and collectively with parents, youth, local leaders, business leaders, and everyday workers to push the needle forward, creating a more just, free, and equitable future to which we all aspire.
But these opportunities have also allowed me to hear the stories of residents throughout our state who are struggling to survive. Stories of middle class parents taking on mountains of debt to send their kids to college or pay for critical medical care. Stories of grandparents unable to afford housing in the communities they have lived in for decades. Stories of residents - in Carlisle, Concord, Chelmsford, and Acton - who have lost family members and loved ones to the ravages of addiction.
I am running for State Representative because I believe that we can replace these stories of worry and despair with stories of prosperity and hope. I believe we can create a more vibrant future if we invest in our communities and the essential resources that all people need to thrive. I believe that if we work together and listen to each other, we can build a just and sustainable future that prioritizes our children and our communities over profits and political expediency.
If elected to represent this District, I will fight everyday for progressive policies, including ensuring every child has access to a quality education, passing single-payer healthcare, investing in public transit, affordable housing, and infrastructure, and preserving our environment while increasing jobs in the green economy to make this future possible.
Thank you for visiting our website and I hope to earn your vote for the September 4th Primary.
